Foundation & Purpose

The exchange was only the beginning.

IANAmericas began in Buenos Aires in 2011 as a hemispheric network connecting associations and leaders shaped by international exchange programs of the U.S. Department of State, including the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

What began through exchange became something larger: an enduring infrastructure of relationships, trust, ideas and action across borders.

The network carries that origin forward without being confined by it.

Hemispheric Reach

Different countries.
Different disciplines.
Different perspectives.
One network.

Across the Western Hemisphere, IANAmericas connects people and alumni communities whose work spans government, diplomacy, academia, business, science, media and civil society.

They are not defined by a single profession, ideology or generation. What connects them is the experience of exchange, the value of trusted relationships and a belief in cooperation across borders.

Over time, those relationships have also enabled dialogue and collaboration beyond the Americas — including with alumni networks and leaders across Europe and other regions.

Principles & Public Voice

At defining moments, networks become voices.

IANAmericas is grounded in a simple conviction: international relationships matter most when they endure beyond the program, the meeting and the moment.

Its history reflects a commitment to dialogue, pluralism, democratic values, human dignity, responsible leadership and peaceful cooperation among societies.

Looking Forward

The future will demand better connections between people, institutions and worlds.

The next chapter will not be defined by institutions alone. It will depend on the quality of the relationships, judgment, imagination and trust that connect people across borders.

IANAmericas looks toward that horizon: a hemisphere more connected, more capable of dialogue and more prepared to act together in a world being rewritten at extraordinary speed.

Governance & Integrity

A hemispheric network, guided by leaders from across the Americas.

IANAmericas is governed by leaders from across the Western Hemisphere, reflecting the diversity, reach and collaborative spirit of the network.

Institutional Dialogue

Some networks are measured by membership. Others by what becomes possible because they exist.

IANAmericas welcomes dialogue with alumni associations, institutions, leaders and partners who share a commitment to international exchange, cooperation and the future of the Americas.
